ASIK «SHKOLA» is a safe school, informed parents
30 07 2012
All parents, when sending their child to school, dream of him studying well, gaining maximum knowledge and succeeding in all subjects. They are no less concerned about the child’s safety at school.

The safety of children at school is one of the most urgent issues around the world. From time to time, television, websites and print media spread simply horrific information that in an American, German or French school, a teenager killed his peers or left them crippled for life. In 2004, the whole world watched the bloody outcome of the drama with captured child hostages in Beslan. This dramatic event forced everyone to think even more seriously about creating a safe environment at school.

Fortunately, there were no such tragedies in Ukrainian schools. There are many common threats that legitimately cause concern among school leaders, parents, and domestic law enforcement agencies. Among them: sale and use of alcoholic beverages, tobacco and drugs by schoolchildren; distribution among students of pornographic and sectarian publications; theft of schoolchildren’s personal belongings and theft or damage to school property.

When sending a child to school or thinking about which school to transfer him to, parents increasingly pay attention to how the school management organizes a safe environment at school, monitors discipline and promptly informs about emerging problems.

Organization of the security system in Ukrainian schools is currently being decided locally. Many educational institutions employ security guards to control access to the educational institution and ensure the safety of children at school. This costly method is quite inefficient — the guard cannot always identify a person who does not have the right to enter the school. In addition, there is a human factor in such a control system: at the right moment, the guard may be absent from the post.

Video surveillance systems and control systems are partially devoid of the «human factor» and can prevent unauthorized persons from entering the educational institution. However, they cannot answer the question that many parents are interested in — «where is my child now?».

Even with the combination of professional security capabilities and standard technical means of control, parents will not have to worry about whether the child came to school, left early, or was present at all lessons. The existence of such problems makes it clear that the prohibition of access to outsiders to the school is only part of the problem of children’s safety. It is quite clear that the specifics of organizing a safe environment at school require a comprehensive approach to its solution.

Automated customer information system «Shkola» (hereinafter ASIK «SHKOLA»), developed by specialists of the Research Institute of Applied Information Technologies, helps to solve all these problems in the most optimal way.

ASIK «SHKOLA» provides information to parents about the results of the student’s work during the school day, his attendance at school, his homework, future school activities, etc. Informing parents is carried out both by sending SMS messages to the mobile phone numbers indicated by them and on the own page of the information portal «My education».

Depending on the needs of a specific educational institution and the wishes of school management and parents, the educational institution may be equipped with ASIK «School» Light (light version) or ASIK «School» Standard (standard version).

The implementation of an effective modern ASIK «SCHKOLA» in the school will not only guarantee the safety of students and improve their discipline, it will help to avoid the facts of theft and vandalism, but will also increase the confidence of parents, will positively affect the rating of the educational institution.

Thus, the implementation of ASIK «School» in an educational institution is the optimal solution for:

  • creating safe conditions for children to stay at school;

  • increasing the discipline of students;

  • prevention of thefts and acts of vandalism in an educational institution;

  • automation of educational institution management.

ASIK «Shkola» gives confidence to parents that their children are protected from contact with outsiders within the walls of the school. Control of tardiness and absenteeism promotes discipline. ASIK «Shkola» also creates the necessary conditions for the preservation of property belonging to the educational institution, employees and students during their stay in school Together, all these factors affect the improvement of the rating of the educational institution.
