The national leader in the field of development and implementation of innovative information technologies in the field of education — the Research Institute of Applied Information Technologies received a gold medal at the third annual exhibition «Innovation in Modern Education — 2011», organized by the Ministry of Education, Science, Youth and Sports of Ukraine and the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences. With such a high award, the organizer of the exhibition noted the importance of the state-wide analytical information and production system «OSVITA» as a tool for organizational and informational support of innovative processes in the reformation of the educational sector.

This is already the second gold medal this year, which is awarded to the developments of the PIT Research Institute in the field of automation of document flow in educational institutions of all levels. At the beginning of the year, in March, PIT Research Institute was awarded a gold medal in the nomination «Development and implementation of modern teaching aids» at the exhibition «Modern Educational Institutions» and the diploma «For Active Participation in Innovative Modernization of the National Education System» recognized the achievements of PIT Research Institute in the field of development and introduction of automated management systems in domestic educational institutions of all levels

According to Yesaulov, the second gold medal received by the PIT Research Institute at the main educational exhibitions was a high state evaluation of the efforts of the work team of the institute headed by him, aimed at the active development of a unified information space in the system of domestic education through the development and active implementation of unique innovative information technology developments within of the state-wide analytical information and production system «EDUCATION».

Analytical information and production system «EDUCATION» was put into operation more than 12 years ago in the system of the Ministry of Education and Science. Having received the status of nationwide, it became a reliable base for the formation and development of a unified information space in Ukraine. «OSVITA» IAS is a complex of administrative, legal, software and hardware tools that ensure the functioning of a single information infrastructure for data processing on education, guarantee reliability and integrity, create mechanisms for protecting information and restricting access to it, and qualitatively improving working conditions for employees divisions of ministries and educational institutions — users of the system.

Among the main tasks and functions performed by IVS «OSVITA» are:

• Creation of unified information and software tools for managing and updating data on educational institutions, their pupils, students and graduates,
• Formation and constant updating of the current database of pupils and students of educational institutions of Ukraine (including digital photography),
• Monitoring and control of the activities of educational institutions of Ukraine by creating a single database of educational institutions (AS «Register of educational institutions»).

The main structural modules of the «OSVITA» IBS are the «Higher Educational Institution» automated management system, the «School» automated system, and the «Test» automated system with the «Comprehensive Educational Institution Security System» subsystem.

Specialists and experts in the field of education are unanimous in the opinion that the «OSVITA» information system continues to be the only reliable high-tech tool for effective information support of the activities of all branch institutions — from the school to the Ministry of Education; is only able to provide an informational analysis of the quantitative and qualitative composition of relevant specialists, to provide important assistance in forecasting and development of management decisions in the field of education with the aim of reforming it in accordance with national priorities for the development of the country’s economy.

The institute occupies a leading position in the country in the implementation of information technologies in the field of education. PIT Research Institute is the developer and information and technical administrator of the State Information and Production System «IVS OSVITA».
