NDI PIT will reliably protect your information
NDI PIT will reliably protect your information
30 11 2011
In November 1988, an event occurred in the USA that forced the whole world to seriously think about the problem of computer security and information protection. The fact is that it was then that the first massive computer virus epidemic took place — the Morris worm epidemic. The worm paralyzed the work of 6 thousand Internet nodes in the United States. Later, in the mass media, this worm was called the «Morris Worm» after its author — Robert T. Morris, a graduate student at the Faculty of Computing at Cornell University), and the malicious program was called the Great Worm by hackers.

It can be said that 1988 was the starting point for the rapid development of information protection technologies, and since then November 30 has been celebrated all over the world as International Information Protection Day. Usually, this day is used not only by system administrators, information protection specialists, but also by ordinary computer users as an excuse to change old passwords, check systems for viruses, archive data, destroy unnecessary information, check the security of important information, carry out a complex audit of system security, get acquainted with the review of security software news.

For the Research Institute of Applied Information Technologies, this holiday is special, because it is the Research Institute of Applied Information Technology that is the leader in the development and implementation of the most modern information protection technologies in software products used in the field of domestic education.

From the very beginning of the implementation of the information and production system «OSVITA» by the specialists of the institute, which started the era of electronic documents and electronic document management in the Ukrainian education system the task was to ensure reliable operation and prevent unauthorized access to the «OSVITA» IBS by developing and implementing a set of organizational and technical measures to protect information.

The main marketing advantage of the PIT Research Institute’s proposals in the field of development and implementation of information protection solutions is that the company’s specialists always apply a comprehensive approach to the creation of information protection systems. The second important advantage is that, developing a system of electronic document circulation in the domestic field of education, the specialists of the institute became one of the first developers of the software and technical complexes of the Key Certification Centers. Certification center for keys of NDI PIT was accredited among the first ten centers and uses a software and technical complex of its own development. This means that the specialists of the institute can not only establish an electronic document flow for clients, but also ensure its support by means of a legally recognized electronic digital signature. The third important advantage is that, when offering information protection services to clients, the institute’s specialists focus on the level of standards defined for organizations with increased requirements for its protection.

When fulfilling customer orders, developers of IT solutions in the field of information protection from the Research Institute of PIT use the most modern hardware and software means of technical and cryptographic information protection. While developing and implementing electronic document management standards within the framework of the «OSVITA» IAS, the specialists of the PIT Research Institute made a choice in favor of the progressive technology of smart cards. Currently, this technology is used in all software products of the PIT Research Institute. A smart card is a full-fledged minicomputer on a single crystal. All critical information protection functions rely on it: cryptographic keys are stored there, with the help of these smart cards, cryptographic operations critical to system security are performed, which would be dangerous to perform on an ordinary computer.

Information protection technology using smart cards is successfully used in Automated system «School» and Automated higher education management system. The information protection system in the «School» AS and the university’s ACS provides for the protection of information when it is stored on media, transmitted through communication channels, electronic digital signature verification, identification of system operators, implementation of demarcation of access to resources and processes in the system. Information protection using start cards is also successfully used in the unique development of the PIT Research Institute — electronic student ticket, which combines the functions of a student ticket and bank card based on NSMEP and VISA payment systems.

In order to protect against unauthorized access to the client’s information and telecommunication systems through the development and implementation of a complex information protection system (ICSI), PIT Research Institute offers tools and develops regulatory documents necessary for the organization of safe work. In fact, CSZI is a complex of various measures
